Terry Gibbs is already in the ring when The Ultimate Warrior’s music begins booming out around the Mayo Civic Center. Warrior, with yellow shorts, yellow and red arm bands and yellow, black and white face paint races down the aisle to ringside. He climbs the steps up on to the ring apron. He pumps his arms up and down before shaking the ropes drawing a pop from the crowd. Warrior steps through the ropes and poses on the second turnbuckle at opposite sides of the ring.
As he steps down Gibbs attacks from behind with a couple of big right hands and the bell sounds to officially begin the match. Warrior turns and blocks a punch. He takes hold of Gibbs and throws him back into the corner. Warrior chops Gibbs’ chest twice, the second strike sending the hapless Gibbs to the floor. Warrior picks him up and chops him again before taking hold of Gibbs and throwing across the ring. Gibbs falls through the ropes and lands hard outside the ring. “The last thing I want is to step into the ring with that man,” remarks Bobby “The Brain” Heenan. Warrior poses in the ring pumping his arms up and down and beating his chest before following his opponent to the outside. The Ultimate One picks Gibbs up and throws him over his shoulder. He carries Gibbs up the ring steps and dumps him unceremoniously back into the ring. A mini screen appears in the corner and Steve Lombardi, better known as The Brooklyn Brawler, had this to say about The Ultimate Warrior… “The Ultimate Warrior. This man’s dangerous. He’s powerful. He’s a human wrecking machine. I don’t know if this man can be stopped”. Gorilla Monsoon agrees with Lombardi saying “I’m not sure this guy can be stopped either Brain”. “No, you’re gonna have to use some sort of tranquiliser gas or something”. Says Heenan. Back to the action and Warrior has stepped back in to the ring and posed again while Gibbs struggled to get back to his feet. Warrior forces his man into the corner where he punches him before tossing him to the canvas. Gibbs groggily gets back to his feet again while Warrior runs off the ropes at either side of the ring gaining momentum before sending Gibbs down yet again with a clothesline. Warrior walks over to his fallen opponent taking him by the hair and pulling him up to a crouching position. Warrior holds him there as he points to the skies signaling the gorilla press slam. Gibbs is hoisted up easily by Warrior who holds him above his head for afew seconds before dropping him down. Gibbs lands hard, face down on the canvas. Warrior runs off the ropes at opposite ends of the ring gaining maximum momentum before splashing Gibbs’s kidneys. He turns Gibbs over and covers him for the three count and another easy victory. |
