Ultimate Warrior Blog Comment.

I spotted this comment on Warrior's blog. It's a fans story about meeting Warrior for the first time. I thought I'd post it here because it's a really great story that again puts to death the mischaracterisation that "Warrior doesn't care about his fans."

There are NO words that can explain how Warrior has changed my life. I’m not just speaking as an Ultimate Warrior fan but as an adult. In 1994 I was away on business in Arizona. After my meeting (in Chandler Arizona) I rented a car and set out on a quest to hopefully have a glimpse of my hero. After driving for quite a while I found my way to Scottsdale and Warriors gym. After standing outside for about 25 minutes trying to get up enough nerve to walk inside I finally did it. I walked into Warriors Gym hoping to get a glance of my hero. Low and behold LARGER than life the man behind the counter said “Can I help you brother?”

At 33 years of age (in 1994) I stuttered, shook, broke out into a cold sweat and like a little-school-boy uttered to him in a quiet-fearful tone…………..”You’re him” He looked me straight in the eye and said “Yes I am”. He could see I was in a fearful awe and said to me “its ok brother relax” he came from behind the counter and put his hand out to shake mine. This is a moment I had dreamed of for years and years. To make a long story short Warrior did everything he could to make me feel at ease. He introduced me to his (girlfriend at that time-now wife) Dana. He then went into the back and came out with the WWF title belt for me to try on. He had me try on his Ultimate maniacs (back when he and savage were a tag team for a short time) Jacket. I took a picture out of my wallet of my wife Bridget wearing an Ultimate warrior t-shirt. Well……….. Warrior then went as far as to load me up with (at NO CHARGE to me may I add) 3 shirts, 2 sweatshirts, 1 gym bag, and 2 hats. Like a kid in euphoria I was just enamored. But that’s not all. He then said meet me in the front. I walk outside the gym and here comes Warrior with a custom Blazer with his face and logo airbrushed onto the truck. Now it sounds like a dream right? WRONG it was true to life. Warrior had also taken the time to sit and talk with me. No. Not just about wrestling but about my future, my dreams and focusing me on a path to success. Warrior and I have kept in touch the past 14 years, in good times and in bad. Warrior guided me through and around a maze of false promises and kept me grounded and saved me from what would have been the biggest mistake of my life (Lets just say married couples at times have differences) and showed me how to stay true and not relinquish my dignity for a man without his dignity is just a shell of a man. Warrior also guided me to what has become a six figure career in sales, how you may ask. That’s easy……………….I never have nor ever will relinquish my dignity be it in my home life or my professional life and that friends shines through. Just take a look at the Logo tattoo on my right shoulder or the band (of warrior logo’s) around my left bicep. People ask me what does it stand for and I simply say dignity and self respect………………….in the way of warrior wisdom. Warrior you are my mentor, my hero and will always be my friend.
