Warrior at University of Connecticut

On April 5th 2005, Warrior, as part of his speaking tour visited the University of Connecticut. He was invited by UConn's College Republicans. This was the final of three speaking engagements Warrior was booked for and as far as he knew would be no different than any other. What Warrior didn't know was that he was being set up for an "ambush" of sorts from a section of UConn's liberal students and "Tent City" kids. Leaflets were distributed prior to the event to prime the students for their sabotage of Warrior's visit. These leaflets contained quotes and excerpts from Warrior own site... many of them taken out of context. The students went in with a mind to call Warrior out on his "racist" and "homophobic" views. They never intended to let Warrior speak his mind freely instead being hell bent on turning his speech into a shouting match.

What is contained here is a selection of articles detailing how events transpired. Of how Warrior was set up before the speech and how his name was dragged through the mud immediately afterwards. Also contained is a more accurate report of the event as well as Warrior's official press release answering allegations made towards him.

The first reports that came out were posted by those who caused the trouble. These were of course picked up by "news" sites all over the internet... many just copying and pasting the same one that was found everywhere else. They gave a brief one-sided account of the speech which named Warrior as the person at fault for the events. View a typical report HERE

These initial reports sparked off massive debate on message boards around the net. People were too happy to give their two cents even without having heard both sides of the story. Their fire was fuelled when the UConn College Republicans spinelessly issued this apology.

In it they apologize deeply to several organisations as well as denying any knowledge that Warrior was going to speak out about his views on controversial topics. Had they not read his website as the liberals who attended the speech clearly had? Had they not heard previous reports of his talks on other campuses? Realizing their apology made their organisation look spineless in front of the rest of the campus, and thanks to the internet the entire world, they issued a follow up to their apology. In this they do nothing to clear Warrior of any blame but do at least make reference to other individuals and groups who they believed should share the blame. Read the follow up HERE

It was after this follow up that Warrior sent out a press relese with his side of events. In it he denies that his speech was anything other than an open discussion about his beliefs and views on certain topics. As well as answering allegations made against him by liberal students he also called out the College Republicans for what they are: Spineless. Read Warrior's official press relese HERE

Warrior followed this up with an extensive post on Warrior Web. He goes into greater detail about the events, his actions and the actions of others. He also lays down a challenge to the students of UConn to name a spokesperson who will take him on in a debate. Warrior says he will do this at his own expense. It wall be very interesting to saee if anybody at UConn has the intestinal fortitude to take him up on this. Warrior's post can only be read at Warrior Web.

Finally more detailed reports about Warrior's speech started to make it out on to the internet. Unsurprisingly not as many of these made the headlines as did the initial reports which targeted Warrior as the person who was in the wrong.
